
The Piney Woods Region of Texas AHEC East serves a broad swath of rural and semi-rural counties in East Texas, including Angelina, Freestone, Grimes, Houston, Jasper, Leon, Madison, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Walker.
We are committed to strengthening the healthcare workforce, expanding care, and championing health access for high-needs communities.
Through local partnerships, student pipelines, continuing education programs, and community engagement, we work to turn possibility into improved health for East Texas.

Health Careers Promotion & Student Exposure
We inspire and prepare young people for careers in health professions, especially within rural and high-needs areas of the Piney Woods region.
Community-Based Experiential Learning
Students gain hands-on experiences in local clinics and service settings, building real skills while serving their region.
