This concentration is open to JSSOM medical students interested in the ethical, social, and human dimensions of healthcare and medicine. Students in the concentration will explore topics, concepts, and methods in bioethics and health humanities through a variety of courses and activities. The curriculum culminates in the creation of an original research project. Dr. Suresh Bhavnani from UTMB and CEO Kumar of Deep Impact AI have signed a collaborative agreement to develop an AI application that helps Houston residents access essential health and social services. Their partnership aims to translate NIH-funded research into practical AI solutions that advance health equity and improve community well-being.
Dr. Molldrem is an ethnographer and a qualitative social researcher whose outstanding work spans topics in health policy, public health ethics, global health, and science and technology studies (STS). We are proud to have his scholarship, leadership, and mentorship strengthening our department every day.
