New Features in December 2018 Update
(Q4 2017, Q2 2018, Q4 2018)

Audio and Video Recording

You can record audio/video in the feedback area of most assessments to bring a personal touch to your conversations with students in your course.

Date Management

Use the date management tool to easily adjust all content and tool dates in your course. Date types include due dates, availability, and adaptive release dates related to the course content.

Attendance

You can mark students' attendance in your courses and use in grading.

Cloud Storage Integration

Instructors and students have access to an aggregated cloud service that lets users connect to their preferred cloud storage accounts (OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Box, DropBox, and Google Drive) and place content directly into their course.

Course Availability Status

You can now also set course availability directly from the course main homepage. At the top management area next to Enter Student Preview, select the Make available/unavailable icon.

Grade Display Standardization

This change standardizes areas of Blackboard Learn where users access grades. Now, all gradebook columns (online and downloads) and My Grades support up to five decimal points, aren't rounded, and are consistent for all display types (score, percentage, letter grade).

Grade Center Cleanup

Instructors can now bulk delete multiple columns at once. Selected manual and calculated columns are removed completely. Selected columns associated with gradable items are cleared of attempt and grade data but remain in the Grade Center.

Important: Deletion of columns and the data contained therein cannot be undone.

Learn 2016 Theme

  • Course Menu Color Configuration
Instructors and course designers can configure the course colors in the course control panel when using the Learn 2016 Theme.
  • Grade Center Improvements
View full titles of Grade Center columns, making it easier to distinguish between similarly titled items, view as many columns as the size of their window will allow, enter into Grade Center full-screen mode to make the most of their desktop experience.
  • Test Optimized for Mobile Web Browsers
Students now have greater flexibility to take their tests on the go on their mobile devices with question types that are better optimized for display on smaller devices.

New Box View Download Annotations

Instructors and students can download certain file types (DOC, DOCX, PDF) with annotations as an annotated PDF. Students can download the annotated file after their submission has been graded.

A known issue with Chrome's built-in PDF viewer may not display all your annotations. Please view annotated PDFs in a native PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat.
