"Visualizing Medicine: Virtual Reality and Innovation for Research and Clinical Practice"

Friday, Sept. 9, 2022  |

Biomedical visualization – a field including medical illustration, animation, data visualization, and even game development– aims to provide clear visual understanding of specific scientific and medical content. Buzzword technologies like Virtual Reality have shown potential for creating meaningful learning experiences and visualizing complex or abstract medical content. But how applicable are these interventions; and how can researchers gain access to these tools without costly or time-intensive training? Ms. Bond provides an overview of modern technologies in medical visualization, using examples from her research and career in medical interactive development. The talk investigates the many avenues for VR research in medicine, and provide practical skills for applying these modern interventions to ongoing research.
