The Health Education Center recently welcomed Ashlesha (Ashley) Parikh, EdD, MSHS, PTA, as Director of the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice and the Quality Enhancement Plan. In this role she leads interprofessional collaborative practice, and research among UTMB's five schools.
Ashley earned her doctorate in executive leadership in health science education from the University of Houston. Prior to joining UTMB, Ashley directed the clinical education program at Houston Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Coleman College of Health Sciences in the Texas Medical Center.
Her nine years as a physical therapist assistant educator strongly support interprofessional clinical simulation and innovative technology to empower students, educators, and clinicians. Ashley’s expertise also spans presenting evidence-based teaching applications for clinical education to support multidisciplinary faculty development.
