Dear colleagues,
Just one month into 2025, the Office of Faculty Affairs is busy with many exciting programs and activities to support our terrific faculty. I am pleased to update you on some of our current projects.
The AAMC StandPoint faculty and staff engagement surveys launched last week. Your participation is extremely important! The more respondents we have, the better we may understand our faculty and staff’s needs, and our opportunities for improvement. Remember that all responses are kept confidential. Thank you for taking the time to share your input.
Registration has opened for our Faculty Leadership Collaborative Mid-Career Bootcamp for associate professors, to be held April 9 through 11. Our Early-Career Bootcamp last month was a tremendous success with 68 participants, including some international registrants. We look forward to replicating this success with our terrific mid-career faculty programming. Read more about it in this edition and spread the word to your peers worldwide!
In addition, we are very excited that our Teaching Excellence and Mentorship (TEAM) Fellows will lead the first Teaching Basics Bootcamp this month. This includes sessions on active learning methods, curriculum development, learner assessment, and professional identity formation – all critical components to cultivate teaching excellence. We look forward to announcing future bootcamps and TEAM Fellow cohorts as this new program grows.
Finally, it is my pleasure to share that UTMB’s MyWellbeing Office, under the leadership of Dr. Cara Geary, is now a part of OFA. This new structure aligns our efforts to support UTMB personnel with valuable tools, knowledge, and opportunities – not only from a professional development perspective but overall. Working together, we will fulfill our shared goals to support and uplift our UTMB community.
Sincerely,
Susan Chubinskaya, PhD, MS, FIOR
Vice President and Executive Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
