The Office of Biostatistics (OBIOS) hosted an open house on Aug. 18 for the UTMB community to learn more about the office and its services.
Dr. Xiaoying Yu, OBIOS director, led an overview of core services and workflows, followed by a lively poster session in the hallway where faculty and staff presented new work in biostatistics, AI, and machine learning. Many biostatistics faculty lead projects as principal investigators, designing studies, running analyses, and developing methods from end to end.
Key takeaways:
- OBIOS supports study design, power calculations, statistical analysis, data management, and manuscript assistance.
- OBIOS works with public and purchased datasets and common research tools such as SAS, STATA, ArcGIS, R, and others.
- Grant support includes a free initial consultation for grant prep and a complimentary two hours of consulting on new projects.
