Dear colleagues,
Spring at UTMB brings some of our most meaningful academic milestones, from Match Day to the first commencement ceremonies of the year. Each one reminds us of the extraordinary talent and commitment within our university community.
I extend heartfelt congratulations to the John Sealy School of Medicine Class of 2026, who celebrated an outstanding Match Day on March 20. With a remarkable 99.5% match rate, our students’ success is a result of tremendous dedication and hard work.
We now turn our attention to commencement season, a testament to perseverance, growth, and achievements as our students prepare to advance into their professions. The School of Nursing will honor its graduates on April 21, followed by a joint ceremony for the School of Public and Population Health and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences on May 15.
As we applaud our students’ accomplishments, I hope our faculty members also take pride in these successes. Your expertise, dedication, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in shaping the next generation of health care and research leaders. Their achievements are a direct reflection of the excellence you bring to UTMB every day.
The Faculty Excellence and Lifetime Achievement Awards honor these extraordinary contributions, and nominations are now being accepted. Read more about the awards in this edition, and please take the time to nominate your colleagues who embody the spirit of these recognitions. We are looking forward to celebrating the amazing work of our faculty.
Sincerely yours,
