Our faculty luncheon took a detour this June, to Ikaria, Greece, one of five Blue Zone regions worldwide where people live the longest, healthiest lives, frequently reaching age 100. Our new Tour de Blue Zones Faculty Lunch series is in support of UTMB's new partnership with Blue Zones Project Galveston, giving faculty a chance to explore the habits behind Ikarian longevity, well-being, and community connection. Alongside a healthy, delicious lunch, attendees built their own custom Greek spice blend for a hands-on taste of Ikarian culture and tradition.
Join us Wednesday, August 12 for the next stop on the Tour de Blue Zones featuring Nicoya, Costa Rica, where we'll explore a diet rich in beans, corn, tropical fruits, and fresh vegetables, along with Pura Vida, a philosophy of gratitude, purpose, community, and everyday joy.
