Hansen Nguyen, MD, MHA

Resident Physician

Dr. Nguyen joined The Department of Family Medicine in 2021. He is a resident physician in training at the Family Medicine Clinic - Island West. Dr. Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Houston.  Dr. Nguyen then attended Louisiana State University and earned his Masters in Health Administration then earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.

Dr. Nguyen is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).

Dr. Nguyen's academic and clinical interests include Preventative Medicine, diabetic management, Hospital Medicine and social determinants of health. 

A Personal Note from Dr. Nguyen

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and spent most of my life just 30 minutes away from UTMB. I completed my undergraduate at the University of Houston Main Campus and attended the American University of the Caribbean's School of Medicine for Medical school. I also obtained my Masters of Health Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport.  

I knew I wanted to be in primary care before entering medical school. I am a firm believer in Family Medicine's role as the vanguard against diseases for patients. My motto is “Always strive to do your best, life is too short to do otherwise.”  

My interests outside of medicine are new experiences, great conversations, and good food.
