Dissertation Colloquium – Erica Fletcher

The UTMB Health Institute for the Medical Humanities will host a dissertation colloquium for Erica Fletcher, BS, BS, PhD on September 10, 2015 from 10:30am to 12:00pm. The event will take place in 2.222 of the Primary Care Pavilion.

Ms. Fletcher's dissertation, entitled "Mad Together in Technogenic Times: A Multi-sited Ethnography of the Icarus Project."

Jerome Crowder, PhD is Ms. Fletcher's advisor.

Authenticity and Authentication at U.S. Gender Clinics, 1965-1979

This presentation examines the history of gender clinics in the United States. While not all transgender or gender-nonconforming people have historically sought the aid of medical interventions, few who did were able to receive such care at academic health centers in the U.S. until the emergence of gender clinics in the 1960s.
