UTMB maintains a structured and systematic process for evaluating the effectiveness of administrative support units in alignment with SACSCOC Standard 7.3, Administrative Effectiveness. All units participate in annual planning and assessment activities designed to measure administrative performance, support institutional mission fulfillment, and promote continuous improvement.
As part of this process, many administrative units document their outcomes, assessment measures, findings, and improvement actions through Detailed Assessment Reports, which serve as the institution’s comprehensive framework for capturing qualitative and quantitative evidence of administrative effectiveness.
Recognizing that some units operate within highly metric‑driven environments, the institution also supports the use of Scorecards, or Work Management Documents, as an equivalent and appropriate assessment tool. In these cases, Scorecards and Work Management Documents function in place of Detailed Assessment Reports, providing a streamlined but robust presentation of key performance indicators, trend data, and evidence‑based improvements. These Scorecards offer clear, measurable insights into unit productivity, service quality, operational efficiency, and goal attainment.
Whether through Detailed Assessment Reports or Scorecards, or Work Management Documents each administrative unit demonstrates ongoing, data‑informed evaluation of its operations and uses assessment results to guide planning, resource allocation, and continuous quality enhancement. Collectively, these processes provide strong evidence of the institution’s commitment to administrative effectiveness in accordance with the expectations outlined in SACSCOC Standard 7.3.
