India Reports Bird Flu Death in Andhra Pradesh: 2-year-old Ate Raw Chicken

The Andhra Pradesh Government has implemented statewide fever screenings following the death of a two-year-old girl from the H5N1 (bird flu) virus in Narasaraopet, Palnadu district. This marks the second H5N1-related death in India, the first being an 11-year-old boy in 2021.

The girl, who ate raw chicken on February 27, developed high fever and diarrhea two days later. Despite treatment at AIIMS Mangalagiri and hospitalization on March 4, she passed away on March 16 after testing positive for H5N1.
