In a standout session at this year’s SETRAC conference, attendees were treated to an inspiring look behind the curtain of one of Region 6’s most impactful training initiatives. The presentation, titled “Training for Readiness: Equipping Region 6 Through SPECTRE's Education Initiatives,” was delivered by a powerhouse team from the SPECTRE program: Melissa Massey, Program Manager of Education; Jennifer Lirette, Clinical Coordinator; and Corrie Ntiforo, Director of Biosafety.
With a shared passion for public health preparedness, the trio brought energy and insight to the room as they outlined how SPECTRE’s education programs are elevating readiness across healthcare and emergency response systems. Their session highlighted the collaborative spirit, innovation, and strategic foresight driving SPECTRE’s mission to ensure Region 6 is not just prepared, but confidently equipped to face emerging infectious disease threats.
From immersive hands-on training to scenario-based simulations and biosafety workshops, Massey, Lirette, and Ntiforo painted a compelling picture of a program deeply committed to strengthening the region’s response capabilities. Attendees walked away with actionable ideas, renewed motivation, and a deeper appreciation for the vital role of education in emergency preparedness.
Through a combination of clinical coordination, biosafety expertise, and community-focused education, SPECTRE continues to strengthen the region's preparedness efforts thanks to the dedicated team driving the work forward.
