The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) has unveiled the nation’s first Portable Biocontainment Unit (PBCU) to safely isolate and transport patients with serious infectious diseases like Ebola to specialized treatment centers. In June, ASPR will test the unit during Exercise Tranquil Passport, a large-scale simulation involving over 50 organizations coordinating the transfer of patients from Canada to U.S. hospitals in the RESPTC network.
