Our training equips you with data management skills to tidy, merge, reshape, and validate datasets, and you'll develop statistical programming fluency in SAS and R for analysis and reporting.

The program includes an Applied Practice Experience and Consulting Practicum so your portfolio shows impact, plus an Integrative Learning Experience that ties methods to a meaningful public health question.

About the Department

The Department of Biostatistics & Data Science serves as a central hub for quantitative education, research, and statistical support across UTMB. Faculty and staff strengthen study design, data management, and analysis across biomedical and population health research, partnering with investigators to translate complex questions into sound, reproducible methods.
The department’s vision centers on using integrated biostatistics and data science expertise to improve health equity and care delivery for diverse populations. Students are equipped to connect rigorous methods with real public health decisions and measurable impact.
