Data and Methods
Health services research asks practical questions about medical care and the systems that deliver it. Students may use:
- Large administrative databases, including Medicare and other health insurance claims.
- Electronic health record and other clinical data.
- Observational and outcomes research methods.
- Clinical and translational studies in rehabilitation.
- Studies that implement and evaluate changes in hospital, clinic, community, or policy practice.
Specific data sources and methods depend on the student's mentor, research question, data access, and project needs.
