myVPN Access Request
In order to utilize myVPN, you must have an active UTMB-USERS-M account and have been granted VPN Access.
If you already have an exchange account, then you have your UTMB-USERS-M account (the username you use to log into your mail).
Any UTMB user or technical support person can request access to Users-M or to the VPN by notifying their department's trusted requestor
who will apply for access through the Information Resources Access Management (IRAM) system. Trusted Requestors are employees who have
been approved to make requests for authorized access to information resources on behalf of staff within their organizational jurisdiction.
What is a VPN?
A VPN is an extension of a private network that encompasses links across shared or public networks such as the Internet.
Using the IP connectivity of the Internet along with a combination of tunneling and data encryption, VPNs help securely connect remote
clients and remote offices. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) allow organizations to securely extend their LANs over the Internet by
encrypting the data traffic. VPNs create the ideal infrastructure for providing a secure method for the exchange of data and network
resources with employees, partners, vendors and external clinics.
