International calling codes, or country codes are digits that must be dialed to reach a telephone number in another country. For instance, if
you are in France and want to call the U.S., you must dial the U.S. country code before dialing the U.S. phone number. To dial the U.S. from another
county, you dial 001 + area code + phone number ("00" gets you an international line, "1" is the country code for USA.)
For calls to other countries, dial the country code, city code (similar to an area code) and the local number. This should hook you up with most
phones in the Western world; naturally, there are exceptions as well as other rules depending on where you are calling and the type of phone you
are calling. Check international codes with International Dialing Codes.
