Aerospace Medicine Scholarly Concentration at the UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine

The Aerospace Medicine Scholarly Concentration is designed to educate medical students currently enrolled in the UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine about aerospace medicine and space biomedical research. Students are introduced to aerospace physiology, space medicine and space life sciences research, and introductory course in aerospace medicine, and career opportunities.

Curriculum

Students must contribute a cumulative 5 months of their medical education to aerospace medicine. Students also benefit from UTMB Health’s close relationship with the Johnson Space Center and from interactions with directors of the Aerospace & Exploration Medicine residency programs at UTMB Health. Upon graduation students are recognized as “Scholars in Aerospace Medicine." Please note, this is not a substitution for formal, ACGME accredited post-graduate medical education in Aerospace Medicine.

The concentration is open to applications from MS1s only annually.
