Dr. Jain is an Associate Professor, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Clerkship Director for 3rd year medical students at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. She joined the University as a fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2004.

Dr. Jain obtained her Medical Degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, India in 1992 and a BS in Zoology in 1986 from the Hans Hanraj College in Delhi, India. She did 3 yr of residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Melbourne University, Australia. She moved to the US and did her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology from SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL in 2004 and fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at UTMB Galveston, TX in 2007. She obtained her Masters in Medical Science during her fellowship at UTMB. She is experienced in both clinical and basic science research. Her interest is reflected in her work related to placental metabolism of glyburide, preterm labor, obesity in pregnancy, depression in pregnancy and HIV in pregnancy. She is a reviewer for several journals.

Dr. Jain provides clinical care to high-risk pregnant women during their prenatal and postnatal period at the Regional Maternal Child Health Program’s clinics and performs ultrasound exams and counseling and deliveries at John Sealy Hospital.

Dr Jain became Clerkship Director for 3rd yr medical students in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2010. She developed simulation in teaching clinical skills and procedures to students, residents and fellows. She completed the Scholars in Education 2yr course conducted by AMT in 2013 and became APGO Scholars & Leaders Program graduate in 2015. In 2014, Dr. Jain was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers (AMT). Since then, she has been active member of the AMT and educational committees both at department level and institutional level.

She has been honored with several teaching awards. Her innovative ideas in education have been supported by multiple grants from AMT. She has introduced a novel way to address professionalism issues in the department and institute. This was recognized and appreciated locally as well as at the regional educational symposium.
