Cliff Snyder is Faculty in the Department of Surgery as a Physician Assistant and Clinical Specialist. He maintains a clinical role in Acute Care Surgery and a leadership role as the Educational Director for the Laboratory for Surgical Training Assessment and Research (LSTAR). He is heavily involved in educating and training residents, fellows, medical students, physician assistant students, and collaborating with other faculty. As a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and having completed the UTMB Clinical Safety & Effectiveness Program (CS&E) among others, he also works closely with the Health System on patient safety and quality improvement initiatives--implementing the educational initiatives to students, residents, staff and faculty.

He serves on committees within the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, Health System, and on a National level as well. He is involved as teaching faculty for many large- and small-group courses within the School of Medicine and School of Health Professions. His teaching includes both procedural-based and didactic-based education in the clinical, simulation and classroom settings. He is also a certified national examiner for the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (FLS &FES) through the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) to proctor the exam for any MD or DO

Prior to joining UTMB, he was a Physician Assistant at UT Health/Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC in the Department of Neurosurgery with a focus on acute trauma care. He is a graduate from Baylor University majoring in Health Science Studies and received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at UTMB. He continues to actively serve as a Volunteer Firefighter and First Responder in Galveston County.
