Academic Computing Overview
Academic Computing provides and supports educational technologies and resources for the academic area. Though the main area of support is to our schools (GSBS, SHP, SOM, SON) many of our applications are available for use campus wide. Resources include the Blackboard learning management system, lecture capture, online testing, evaluations, among other resources.
Blackboard is our campus Learning Management System (LMS) and used for distance, blended, face-to-face and adhoc courses. Blackboard allows for online teaching and learning, content management and distribution, communication and collaboration. Features include: discussions, assignments, assessments and grade book. We also have many integrated applications such as Panopto, Softchalk, Respondus, and VoiceThread.
Academic Computing is pleased to provide Panopto as our new screen/lecture capture solution. With Blackboard integration, students simply access recordings from the Panopto Video link from within their courses. Instructors, we have many resources available to get started.
This tool provides live interactive polling, web delivery & PowerPoint embedding, as well as reporting and results. It is available for on and off-site functions.
Respondus LockDown Browser
Respondus LockDown Browser is available to enhance security in a proctored environment.
Respondus 4.0 Exam Software
Respondus 4.0 Exam software is an additional tool for editing and publishing exams into Blackboard. It can also be used to created digital and printed copies of an exam.
Sigmaplot is a scientific graphing and statistical analysis package for Windows computers. Academic Computing provides and manages a 50 concurrent user license.
SoftChalk Cloud is an eLearning content authoring tool which allows you to develop learning modules and host your content.
SPSS is a high-powered statistical analysis package for Windows and Apple computers. Academic Computing provides and manages a 30 concurrent user license.
