Prospective Student Information

The Program confers PhD degrees for basic biomedical research in the areas of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, structural biology, bioinformatics, and computational biology.

The goal of the program is for each student to develop a broad, quantitative understanding of modern biology with relevance to human health. All students take BBSC core courses in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Genetics, along with advanced BCMB courses and electives tailored to their individual interests. These courses prepare students to pursue independent, multidisciplinary research projects under the guidance of research-active supervisory professors with strong scientific track records. The exceptional research environment is complemented by the recreational and cultural opportunities available in our coastal island community.
