Disease Mechanisms
Identification of the molecules and elucidation of
the mechanisms underlying cellular dysfunction associated with human
disease are essential for the development of novel diagnostic and
therapeutic approaches.
In our department, a wide range of methodologies and model systems
are utilized to investigate the molecular basis of a variety of human
diseases, including disorders that result from trauma, genetic
mutations, aging and environmental factors. Strong support of
collaborative efforts among faculty with distinct scientific and medical
backgrounds has resulted in effective translation of basic science
findings into clinical applications
