As we prepare for FY27 and continue strengthening the governance and oversight structure of the John Sealy School of Medicine (JSSOM), I am requesting your assistance in identifying and nominating faculty members from your department to serve on the JSSOM Curriculum Committee.
This is essential to maintaining a fully functioning and effective curriculum governance structure, as per UTMB bylaws and required by LCME.
At this time, we are seeking the JSSOM Faculty as Curriculum Committee Members from the following clinical departments:
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Pathology
- Neurology
The Curriculum Committee plays a critical role in:
- Oversight and evaluation of the medical education curriculum
- Monitoring curriculum quality and effectiveness
- Identifying curricular gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement
- Supporting continuous curriculum enhancement initiatives across the institution
Curriculum Committee Meetings:
On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 of each month. Virtual participation is an option; In-person participation is recommended.
Eligibility for Membership:
Any member of the JSSOM Faculty, preferably with engagement in undergraduate medical education (UME), curriculum development, student assessment, course or clerkship leadership, or other educational activities within the JSSOM.
Committee members will receive 2% administrative time towards their FTE.
Thank you!
