My name is Laeth Nasir, and I am a Professor of Family Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine. I have the privilege of serving as lead editor for the upcoming 9th Edition of Taylor's Principles and Practice of Family Medicine, published by Springer, working alongside Dr. Robert Taylor, the founding editor.
Since its first edition in 1978, Taylor's has been a cornerstone of family medicine education, serving as an essential resource for physicians and educators worldwide. The textbook spans two volumes and approximately 2,000 pages, and our mission remains to provide practical, insightful guidance for family physicians across diverse clinical settings.
I'm writing to ask whether you, or any faculty in your department, might be interested in contributing a chapter to this edition. We are updating several key chapters to reflect contemporary perspectives on today's challenges in family medicine.
This can be a valuable opportunity for faculty, particularly those building a record in teaching, scholarship, or academic promotion. Contributing to a widely used, internationally recognized textbook is a meaningful scholarly credential, and I'm happy to offer mentorship and guidance along the way, especially for those newer to textbook writing.
For planning purposes, chapters typically range from 4 to 15 manuscript pages, with a submission deadline of November 2026.
