On Friday the 21st of October, 2022, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston will honor 38 Faculty Living Legends in Celebration of the 130th Anniversary of educating the finest health care professionals.
This marks a special day in UTMB history, when the doors of Old Red opened to 13 faculty and 23 students more than 130 years ago.
While all of our UTMB faculty are legendary, on October 21st, we will celebrate a select group of UTMB's
Faculty Living Legends -- many of whom are your mentors, colleagues and friends.
Our Living Legend is
Barbara Thompson. Dr. Thompson has been a part of UTMB for almost 50 years. She is alumni of UTMB's School of Medicine, graduated in the first class of family medicine residents, has been a faculty member for 47 years.
She has held the positions of Residency Program Director, Medical Student Education Director and Department Chair. She served as Chair of Family Medicine for 24 years.
