Two UTMB Faculty Members Selected for UT System Shine Academy

Two University of Texas Medical Branch faculty were selected as members of the UT System Kenneth I. Shine, MD, Academy of Health Science Education.

Dr. Patricia Richard, associate professor and chair of the Department of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Nursing, and Dr. Dana Wild, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and assistant dean for student affairs in the School of Health Professions, will join the 2022 Academy inductees.

 “I am honored to be selected for membership in The University of Texas System Kenneth I. Shine, M.D. Academy of Health Science Education,” Richard said. “I look forward to engaging with colleagues to learn from their experiences and assisting with meeting the mission of the Academy.” 

The University of Texas System Academy of Health Science Education was founded in 2005 and renamed in honor of Dr. Kenneth I. Shine upon his retirement as the UT System Executive Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs in recognition of his many accomplishments, including the creation of the Academy.

 “I am honored to represent UTMB in the UT System Academy of Health Science Education,” Wild said. “I have been fortunate enough to attend and present at the annual conferences. To be part of a such a prestigious diverse group of health educators is very humbling. I plan to continue to support the Academy’s mission to foster excellence in education in the health sciences and look forward to learning from the respected members.” 

The mission of the Shine Academy is to serve the UT System through the support and promotion of excellence in all aspects of health science education, educational scholarship and leadership.
