APHA elects Guillot-Wright as governing councilor

American Public Health Association members have elected Dr. Shannon Guillot-Wright to serve as a governing councilor representing the Community Health Planning and Policy Development section.

Guillot-Wright is vice chair of Research and Health Policy and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UTMB. She is also the health policy research director of the Center for Violence Prevention.

The professional organization describes itself as championing the health of all people and all communities.

“I’m honored to be elected as an APHA Governing Councilor where I’ll have the opportunity to steer advocacy efforts and ensure policies are evidence-informed,” Guillot-Wright said. “I’m very grateful to my CHPPD community who work tirelessly towards equitable public health policies as well as my UTMB community, like faculty and staff at the Center for Violence Prevention and Department of Family Medicine, who encourage this type of engagement.”

Guillot-Wright’s two-year term begins Nov. 10, 2022.
