A recent collaborative study between the UTMB One Health Laboratory and Bach Mai hospital in Vietnam uncovered molecular evidence of a canine-like coronavirus (CCoV-HuPn-2018) in patients hospitalized with pneumonia. Previously detected only in Malaysia and Haiti, this finding suggested that the virus may be more geographically widespread than known and highlights the importance of One Health surveillance approaches in detecting novel emerging virus pathogens before they spread.
