The University of Texas System hosted an open forum to receive comments on the recruitment of a new president for the University of Texas Medical Branch from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Levin Hall Auditorium on the Galveston campus.
The purpose of the forum was to receive comments from employees, faculty, students and staff—and members of the communities served by UTMB—regarding the qualities, accomplishments and contributions expected of the university’s next president. The forum was hosted by the search advisory committee co-chairs, UT System Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs John Zerwas, M.D., and UT Health Science Center at Tyler President Kirk Calhoun, M.D.
Representatives of Isaacson, Miller, the executive recruitment firm engaged by the UT System to assist the Board of Regents with the search, were also in attendance to hear comments.
The UT System will post a website in the next few weeks to allow members of the UTMB community and general public to offer comments and nominations.
Members of the public may submit nominations for the next president of the University of Texas Medical Branch via a UT System website that launched Jan. 28.
The website also gives the public the opportunity to offer comments about the expectations for the university’s next president. Both nominations and comments can be offered anonymously.
To submit your input on the qualities you'd like to see in the next UTMB president, please email utmbpresident@imsearch.com or visit https://www.utsystem.edu/utmb-presidential-search.
