Academic Enterprise Announcements

We are very happy to share some exciting news from our School of Public and Population Health. Following an extensive and rigorous review process, the Council on Education for Public Health has awarded the school its full five-year accreditation.

We are very excited to welcome Vineet Gupta, PhD, as UTMB’s inaugural Vice President for Innovation, Technology Development and Transfer. Dr. Gupta joined us Dec. 1. In this role, he is positioned to elevate UTMB’s fourth mission area, innovation.

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces the new Office of Strategic Research Development, a centralized institutional office that provides support for proposal development to further enhance UTMB's research enterprise.

Katie Branch, PhD, MSN, RN, CHSE, has been tapped to serve as Vice President for Interprofessional Education and the Health Education Center. She will join UTMB on or about Sept. 25, 2023.

We have completed our search for the next APP Director role and are pleased to share that Laura Ellender, MSN, RN, CEN, FNP-C, has been selected to serve as the next APP Director, effective September 1, 2023.
