ADA Services for SHP Graduates

Degree-seeking candidates who need ADA-related accommodations to participate in the Commencement ceremony are asked to complete the Accessibility Notification Request Form for graduate seating and the Processional/Recessional line up before July 31.

Accommodation Requests for Guests

Graduate guests with disabilities should submit ADA-related accommodations at least 2 weeks before the ceremony date.

Accessible seating is limited and advanced planning is highly recommended. We will make every effort to accommodate guests without advance accessible seating requests on the day of Commencement.

Submit ADA Accommodation Requests

On Commencement day, guests needing accommodations should plan to arrive by 8:50 am for admittance at 9:00 am. General seating admittance will begin between 9:15 am and the Ceremony that starts promptly at 10:00 am. We encourage you to plan and allow time for summer traffic, parking, and assembly. Upon arrival, locate Expo Hall C. Event staff will be available to escort guests to the designated station during admittance.

Accommodations for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Sign language interpreting services are available upon request and should be arranged in advance by submitting ADA-related accommodations at least 2 weeks before the ceremony date.

Accommodations for Guests with Limited Mobility

One additional family member/guest can sit with each person requiring limited mobility seating. All other family members/guests may sit in the surrounding areas of the general assembly. We cannot guarantee specific sitting location requests.

We encourage guests with limited mobility to be dropped off under the porte-co·chère (covered driveway) at the Expo Hall C door entrance. Convention Center staff are not allowed to assist in unloading/loading passengers. All transfers to and from the vehicle will be the responsibility of the people in the car.

Disability Access Parking

There are limited marked handicapped parking spaces in the Convention Center Parking Garage. Once allotted marked handicapped spaces have been filled, guests will need to park in outer shuttle lots.
