The SPECTRE program at University of Texas Medical Branch partnered with the South East Texas Regional Advisory Council (SETRAC) to host an EMS Frontline Training focused on preparedness, PPE use, and safe response considerations for high-consequence infectious diseases. The training was held on UTMB’s campus and supported regional collaboration among EMS partners.
The training brought together 25 EMS professionals from across the region, including teams from Cy Fair EMS and Fire Department, Fort Bend County EMS and Fire Department, City Ambulance, and AMR. Participants engaged in a structured training day that combined didactic discussion with hands-on PPE practice, allowing agencies to work through their existing donning and doffing processes while discussing risk awareness, communication, and field-based considerations. The focus of the day was on shared learning, confidence building, and practical application in real-world EMS environments.
