Amy Kreykes, MD, MPH, FAsMA grew up in an aviation family. As a child she had a fascination aviation and human spaceflight. She obtained her private pilot’s license at the age of 17. In high school she realized she also had a passion for medicine. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Minors in Chemistry and Physics from the University of Denver, a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her post-graduate medical education included residency in Family Medicine and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) as well as an Aerospace Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
She holds board certifications in Family Medicine, with an Additional Qualification in Sports Medicine, and Aerospace Medicine and actively practices all three. Her current professional positions include: the Associate Program Director for the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Aerospace Medicine Residency; the Director of the Aerospace Medicine Master of Science at UTMB; Assistant Professor in the School of Public and Population Health at UTMB; Medical Operations Lead for the Commercial Crew Program, SpaceX, at NASA’s Johnson Space Center; and “Mommy” to three amazing kids.
She is passionate about Aerospace Medicine Education and serves as the Education and Training Committee Chair for the Aerospace Medical Association. She is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association and was the 2025 recipient of the Theodore C. Lyster Award for Outstanding Achievement in Aerospace Medicine.
