Dr. Daniel Aillaud De Uriarte is a physician, bioethicist, and researcher with interests in clinical ethics, addiction ethics, mental health, and gastroenterology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad de Las Américas Puebla, Mexico, and received a Master of Science in Bioethics (MBE) from Harvard Medical School. He is currently pursuing doctoral training in Bioethics and Health Humanities at UTMB, with a focus on alcohol use disorder, autonomy, coercion in treatment, stigma, and relational ethics in addiction care.
His academic work explores ethical questions related to substance use disorders and complex healthcare challenges. He has contributed to research in inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal surgery, artificial intelligence in medicine, and bioethics. He has presented his work internationally in English, Spanish, and French across the United States and Europe. He also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of The American Journal of Gastroenterology.
