Lorenah E. Vásquez
(she/her) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Bioethics and Health
Humanities at UT Medical Branch. She holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in
Health Science from UT Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, TX. Her dissertation
focuses on how health and disability have been defined for and understood by
migrant farmworker communities in the United States, spanning from the Bracero
Program to the current moment. Broadly, her research interests include Latine
and borderlands studies, migrant labor and labor movements, disability ethics,
and environmental issues.
Research interests: migrant and refugee health equity, disability justice, environmental justice, and traditional health/healing knowledges.
