Born and raised in Texas City, Texas, Ashley Renee Martinez is a proud Texas City High School graduate who has built her career around healthcare administration and supporting patients, providers, and clinical teams. Ashley joined UTMB in April 2021 and continued to grow professionally within the organization, serving as both a Patient Services Specialist (PSS) I and PSS II. During her time at UTMB, she had the opportunity to support several departments and specialties, including Pain & Neuro, Geriatrics, Palliative Care, Pulmonary, Nephrology, and Cardiology. These experiences provided her with a broad understanding of healthcare operations and strengthened her skills in supporting patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Following her role as a PSS II, Ashley transitioned into a Business Coordinator position within the Department of Internal Medicine, where she supported the Divisions of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine. In this role, she provided administrative and operational support to faculty and staff, coordinated schedules and meetings, assisted with departmental projects and events, and supported the day-to-day operations of both divisions. This experience further expanded her knowledge of healthcare administration and allowed her to take on greater responsibilities within UTMB.
Ashley recently joined the UTMB School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) as an Administrative Coordinator in the Department of Epidemiology. In her new role, she looks forward to bringing her years of healthcare and administrative experience to SPPH while continuing to learn, grow, and contribute to UTMB’s mission of improving health and advancing population health.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She is a proud mom of two, Levi (7) and Jaelynn (2), who keep her busy with football, basketball, and baseball. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, relaxing in the sun, and enjoying good food. Ashley is excited for this next chapter of her career and looks forward to continuing to grow both personally and professionally at UTMB.
