The Department for Community Engagement and Education promotes and supports reciprocal partnerships with UTMB members and members of the community. These partnerships create a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources.
Galveston Central Church
Galveston Central Church is dedicated to their social service work and are looking for individuals who have a passion for serving our under-served community. Volunteer opportunities are available every Tuesday and Thursday from 8am-noon. They are looking
for help in the kitchen, running the shower and laundry lists, helping people on the computer, or just having conversations and building open relationships with fellow community members.

CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread
Feeding minds, bodies and spirits. Christus Our Daily Bread is dedicated to providing guidance and structure to clients facing homelessness or suffering from mental illnesses and chemical addictions.
Volunteers are needed in their efforts of "serving up compassion and hot meals". Clients are provided nutritious meals, clean clothing, the necessities of personal hygiene and a structured recovery program.

St. Vincent's House - Food Distribution
St. Vincent House provides essential services and resources to empower families & individuals to become self-sustaining and contributing members of our community. St. Vincent’s House partners with UTMB through numerous
health care initiatives:
- Hospital to Home (H2H) Team
- Care Transition Clinic (CTC)
- Interprofessional (IP) Clinic
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Team
- Wound Care Services
- Mobile Clinic -Community Nursing
St. Vincent's House has a monthly produce distribution in partnership with Galveston County Food Bank. Volunteers will help assemble and distribute food boxes. If you'd like to be a part of providing nutrition assistance, you can sign up here.
