A Message from the Senior Vice President, Provost, and Chief Academic Officer, UTMB:

Julie Griffith

Meet the Academic Enterprise's New Director of Wellness

We are delighted to share an introduction from Julie Griffith, MPH, who recently joined UTMB as Director of Wellness for the Academic Enterprise. Look for her to share information on wellness programs and activities in future editions!

It is a true honor to join the UTMB Academic Enterprise and serve as your Director of Wellness. Since arriving in January, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with so many remarkable faculty, staff, and leaders and I’ve felt the warmth, pride, and hospitality that make this community so special!

Improving health is at the very heart of UTMB’s mission. Under Dr. Chubinskaya’s leadership, there is deep commitment to fostering a culture that supports the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the entire Academic Enterprise. By creating health-promoting environments and investing in the well-being of our people we can help everyone flourish!

In my role, my focus is to help make well-being a natural part of who we are at UTMB. This means supporting individuals through accessible programs, medical care, and innovative tools and resources that build knowledge, skills, and opportunities to be well. It means building a positive work and learning atmosphere where people feel recognized and have a sense of belonging. It also means partnering across departments to create environments and practices that embed well-being into every aspect of campus life. It is my hope that this work will be shaped by listening to faculty, staff, and student experiences and identifying practical, meaningful ways to support your well-being.

As I continue learning about UTMB’s culture and opportunities, I would love the chance to connect and hear your ideas, insights, and expertise. Please reach out to me at jugriffi@utmb.edu. I’m thrilled to be a part of UTMB and look forward to building a healthier, happier and stronger community together!
