Dr. Randa Abdelmasih, MD, DipABOM, is an endocrinologist and obesity medicine specialist who serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Associate Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship, and Director of the Medical Student Obesity Medicine Elective at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).
Dr. Abdelmasih is a clinician-educator whose work focuses on obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disease. She is actively involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education through curriculum development, educational innovation, and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Her clinical and research interests include obesity therapeutics, Metabolic health, diabetes, and endocrine disorders, with a focus on advancing evidence-based care and improving cardiometabolic outcomes through clinical research.
Dr. Abdelmasih earned her MBBCh from Cairo University and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Central Florida before completing fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at UTMB. During her residency, she was recognized by the American College of Physicians, Florida Chapter Women in Medicine, for her leadership, devotion, and excellence. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine.
She has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at national scientific meetings, with her work recognized by the ENDO 2024 Presidential Poster Award. She is an active member of the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE).
