Faculty Profile

  • Dr. James Scott currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine with a focus in hospital medicine. Dr. Scott served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas, where he also completed his residency. He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at UNT Health Science Center, where he also completed the Rural Medicine Track. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Texas A&M University. His academic and administrative leadership extends to committee participation within the IM Residency Program and GME, and he was selected to attend the AAIM Chief Resident Leadership Conference in 2024.

    Dr. Scott is actively engaged in quality improvement and medical education, having led multiple QI initiatives aimed at improving clinical care and resident training. His projects have earned regional and national recognition, including multiple poster awards at ACP events and UTMB forums.
