  • Dr. Hesham Abowali was a Hematology/Oncology fellow and Chief Fellow at One Brooklyn Health, New York. He earned his MBBCH in Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 2015, followed by a comprehensive internship across multiple specialties at Ain Shams University Hospitals. In 2019, he began his residency in Internal Medicine at One Brooklyn Health under the mentorship of Conrad Fischer, MD, and subsequently achieved board certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2022. His appointment as Chief Fellow in 2024/2025 reflects his leadership within the division and his commitment to advancing patient care, education, and research. His clinical and academic interests span hematologic malignancies, oncologic disparities, and innovative therapies such as CAR-T cell treatments. He has contributed extensively to peer-reviewed scholarship, authoring and co-authoring numerous publications in journals such as Frontiers in Oncology, European Journal of Hematology, Journal of Clinical Medicine and Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. His research has addressed topics ranging from racial disparities in lymphoma outcomes to bleeding risks in COVID-19 patients, cardiotoxicity in novel therapies, and quality improvement in transfusion protocols. Dr. Abowali's presentations have covered cutting-edge topics such as CAR-T cell therapy in amyloidosis, survival trends in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and epidemiology of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Beyond his clinical and academic contributions, Dr. Abowali has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and medical education. Early in his career, he organized study groups for medical students and participated in initiatives to improve pediatric emergency environments and promote healthcare access for underserved populations.
