Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Melinda Tanabe completed her Medical Degree at Universidad Favaloro in her home country Argentina. She embarked in an Internal Medicine residency in Chicago at John H. Stroger "Cook County" Hospital for three years. For her 4th year, she was chosen to serve as an Internal Medicine Chief resident. Dr. Tanabe selected UTMB Infectious Diseases fellowship program to specialize in Tropical Diseases and Global Health. During her training she was awarded with multiple academic scholarships. She is currently finishing a master's in clinical sciences at UTMB and serving as Assistant Professor for the Infectious Diseases division. Her main interests are Travel Medicine and Global Health with a focus on Neglected Infectious Parasites.
