Byron Bailey Surgical Society Visiting Professorship
Every year UTMB welcomes visiting professors to give a lecture at the Byron Bailey Surgical Society Annual Meeting or UTMB Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Grand Rounds. Visiting professors earn the prestigious Byron Bailey Surgical Society Visiting Professorship, which grants them lifetime membership to the Byron Bailey Surgical Society.
This award is voted on by the residents and granted to the staff member who best represents the values of the department in their actions. Winners display a commitment to excellence and a willingness to go the extra yard.
Resident Research Award
This award is granted at the Byron Bailey Surgical Society Annual Meeting each year. Residents present one research project they completed that year, and faculty members vote on the best research project based on a number of factors.
Sapere Aude Award
This award is granted to the resident who best represents this Latin phrase meaning “dare to be wise.”
Teaching Excellence Award
This award is granted yearly to the faculty member most demonstrating an interest in and desire to teach, as voted on by the resident
