Jeremy Foon, MD Jeremy Foon recieved his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College with a BS in biology. He attended medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He joined the UTMB staff in 2013. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society.
Ben McIntire, MD Ben was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Neuroscience in 2009. He then attended LSUHSC in New Orleans, LA, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and received his MD in 2013.
Emily Tignor, MD Originally from central Illinois, she graduated Furman University Magnum Cum Laude with a double major in Neuroscience and German Studies. She completed medical school at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

Robert Darling, MD Robert was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and graduated with a BS in chemistry. He attended the Chicago Medical School where he was invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Societies before receiving his MD in 2012.
Steven Snith, MD Steven Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi with a BS in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson Mississippi. He joined the UTMB staff in 2012.
Matt Yantis, MD Matthew Yantis received his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College with a BS in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center School of Medicine in Mississippi.

Sharon Ramos, MD Sharon Ramos recieved her undergraduate degree from Florida International University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in biology. She attended medical school at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Peurto Rico. She joined the UTMB staff in 2011.
Joseph Russell, MD Joseph Russell received his undergraduate degree from Charleston Southern University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Chemistry and Professional Biology. He attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He joined the UTMB staff in 2011.
Eugene Son, MD Eugene Son was raised in League City, TX and went out-of-state to attend Emory University in Atlanta, GA , where he earned a B.S. in Biology in 2007. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX (UTHSCSA) and graduated with a M.D in 2011. He decided to attend at an otolaryngology residency close to home and started his training here at UTMB in 2011.

Leonel Martinez, MD Dr. Martinez attended Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburgh, KS where he was a member of the Honors College and graduated with a BS in Chemisty. He graduated from The University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2008 in which he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor society.
Angelia Natili, MD Angelia attended Clemson University for her Chemical Engineering BS, then after working in the field, went back for her medical degree to University of South Carolina SOM in Columbia, SC. She completed a preliminary year in surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh before coming to UTMB.
Ross Patton, MD S. Ross Patton grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended The University of Texas for his undergraduate education. Graduating with highest honors, he majored in history and earned a BA in 2006. Ross attended UTMB for medical school and graduated with honors in 2010. He is currently conducting research in the area of laryngopharyngeal reflux.

Susan Edionwe, MD Dr. Susan Edionwe was born in Fort Hayes, Kansas but was raised in South Texas. She completed her undergraduate degree in Pre Medical Biology at the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. As for her research endeavors, she is listed in the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium as having participated in the finishing of the human reference sequence beyond the publication of the draft human genome, and her most recent investigations include characterizing age related vestibular afferent changes in gerbils.
Naren Venkatesan, MD Naren grew up in Arlington, Texas. After completing high school, he went to the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in the Plan II Liberal Arts Program. Then, he went to Texas Tech University for Medical School where he received his MD in 2009. After completing an internship year at Emory University, he moved to Galveston to join the Otolaryngology Program.
Benjamin Walton, MD Dr. Walton is a native of Louisiana, having been born in New Orleans and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana. He earned his Bachelor's in Biological Science at Louisiana State University in 2005 before earning his MD at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in May of 2009.

Andrew Coughlin, MD Dr. Coughlin is an Iowa native but did his post-high school training in the great state of Nebraska. After finishing his undergraduate degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University, he went to Medical School at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He graduated in 2008 with AOA honors. He has conducted research on gorilla thyroids while in medical school and is publishing both a review article and chapter on the use of sentinel lymph node biopsy in head and neck cancers.
Viet Pham, MD Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Viet was basically raised a Texas boy in North Richland Hills. Viet received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering at The University of Texas in Austin in 2004. Viet finished medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2008, where he remained to complete his residency training in otolaryngology.

David Gleinser, MD Dr. Gleinser was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio with a BS in Chemistry. He then attended Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine where he was invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He received his MD in May of 2007.

Francisco (Frank) Pernas, MD Dr. Pernas was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Upon graduating from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2006, he completed a one year clinical research fellowship at the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders. While at the NIH, Dr. Pernas investigated and identified key biomolecular predictors of response to an EGFR inhibitor in head and neck cancer cell lines and tumor specimens from a clinical trial.

Ryan Ridley, MD Dr. Ridley is a proud graduate of Howard University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. As an undergraduate, Ryan conducted research at top institutions including the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Washington in Seattle where his work was published in the Journal of Undergraduate Research in Engineering. Dr. Ridley earned his medical degree from UTMB in June of 2006. Dr. Ridley completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2011.

briscoe_thumbnail Dr. Briscoe graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, and earned his M.D. degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. As a medical student, Michael received the Arthur V. Simmang Scholarship, Mclaughlin Research Grant, and Merck Student Award. Dr. Briscoe completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2010.
Dr. Kevin Ho Dr. Ho pursued his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins. He attended medical school at the University of California, Irvine where he worked with Dr. Brian Wong on cartilage engineering research. His work on electromechanical cartilage reshaping has been published in the Laryngoscope and presented at the Triological Society and AAO-HNS meetings. Dr. Ho completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2010
Dr. Chad Simon Dr. Simon graduated from The University of Southwestern Louisiana, then attended the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He received Junior AOA honors during medical school. Dr. Simon completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2010.

Dr. Font obtained his BA in chemistry with honors from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. While in college, he was chosen to participate on the Minority Access Research Honor program of the NIH and the Summer Honor Undergraduate Research Program at Harvard Medical School. He then attended the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus where he obtained AOA honors during his junior year and graduated as valedictorian of his medical school class. Dr. Font completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2009.
Dr. Camysha Wright Dr. Wright is a native Floridian. She obtained her BS in biology and graduated magna cum laude from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. During college she was a McNair Research Scholar and also participated in the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program during her senior year. Through this program she was afforded the opportunity to attend an NIH Honors Research Course. She then obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Florida A&M University and graduated first in her class. She went to medical school at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC where she graduated with AOA honors. Dr. Wright completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2009.

Dr. Jeffrey Buyten Dr. Buyten graduated summa cum laude with a BS degree in Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma. He then rent on to receive his Medical Degree from the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical School in Dallas with AOA honors. Dr. Buyten completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2008.
Dr. Garrett Hauptman Dr. Hauptman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his M.D. degree from The University of Florida. Dr. Hauptman completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2008.
Dr. Murtaza Kharodawala Dr. Kharodawala completed medical school in Detroit, Michigan at Wayne State University , where he graduated with AOA honors. Dr. Kharodawala completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2008.

Dr. Alan L. Cowan Dr. Cowan completed his undergraduate training at Texas A&M University, receiving a degree in Business Analysis and Information Technology. He then attended medical school at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. During this time, he was nominated for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and completed several specialized clerkships at institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, and the Royal Hospital of London. Dr. Cowan completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2007.
Dr. Jacques Peltier Dr. Peltier is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport where he graduated with AOA honors. Dr. Peltier completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2007.
Dr. Jing Shen Dr. Shen was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with high honors in biochemistry and molecular biology. She then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas where she graduated with AOA honors. Dr. Shen completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2007.

Dr. Sam Cunningham Dr. Cunningham attended Texas Tech University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. Dr. Cunningham attended the University of Texas Medical Branch Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences where he received a Masters of Science and Doctorate in molecular biology. After completing medical school at UTMB, he completed a one year research fellowship where he studied gene expression in laryngeal cancer. Dr. Cunningham completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2006.
Dr. Sarah Rodriguez Dr. Rodriguez is a graduate of UTMB medical school. Dr. Rodriguez completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2006.
Dr. Steven Wright Dr. Wright is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with a BA in biology. He subsequently attended the UTMB School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. He has presented research on cartilage grafts and has published scientific and clinical papers in the Laryngoscope and other peer reviewed journals. Dr. Wright completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2006.

Dr. Glen Porter Dr. Porter graduated from Brigham Young University and then attended Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Porter completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2005.
Dr. Shashidhar Reddy Dr. Reddy graduated from Lousiana State University Medical School as a member of the 6 year accelerated Medical Studies Program, with a Bachelor of Science and MD degrees with AOA honors. He simultaneously obtained his Masters in Public Health from LSUMC-New Orleans. Dr. Reddy's research includes "Effect of gentamicin or unilateral canal plugging on the vestibulo-ocular reflex after unilateral labyrinthectomy." Dr. Reddy completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in June of 2005.
