Post-Professional OTD Program Tracks
The Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (PPOTD) program is seeking applicants for both the Bachelors-to-OTD and Masters-to-OTD cohorts.
- The next Bachelors-to-OTD class will start in late August. Applications will be accepted until July 1, 2021, for the August start date.
- The next Masters-to-OTD class will start in early January. Applications will be accepted until November 2, 2021, for the January start date.
Make plans to attend a virtual open house on the third Wednesday of the month:

Graduation Pass Rates
Upon completion of all curriculum requirements with a minimum GPA of 3.0, the designated degree of Master of Occupational Therapy is conferred. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for occupational therapists administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Successful completion of the NBCOT examination leads to certification by the NBCOT.
Graduates are encouraged to sit for the NBCOT certification exam as soon as possible to increase chances for successful attainment of certification. Application for the certification examination includes some questions that relate to felony convictions. AOTA's Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) is recognized as the accrediting agency for occupational therapy education by both the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). ACOTE is also an active member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA). ACOTE currently accredits over 400 occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs in the United States and its territories.
The Occupational Therapy professional entry-level doctoral degree program (OTD) at the University of Texas Medical Branch has candidacy status with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and will continue until ACOTE conducts the on-site accreditation review, scheduled for early 2022.
