Whether you're entering the field for the first time or building on years of clinical experience, we provide flexible, respected programs designed to meet you where you are.

  • Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) Advance from an AS or AA to a bachelor’s degree with a fully online program tailored for working RTs. Strengthen your clinical knowledge, broaden your career options, and prepare for future graduate study — all while continuing to serve patients.
  • Master of Science in Respiratory Therapy (MSRT) Our on campus Entry Level MSRT program is built for students with no prior healthcare experience who want to enter a high impact clinical profession. This full time program prepares graduates to become Registered Respiratory Therapists and make a direct difference in patient care across Texas and beyond.
  • Master of Science in Respiratory Therapy – Degree Advancement (MSRT DA) Take your bachelor’s degree further with advanced training in Operational Leadership, Education, or Research. This fully online graduate program helps experienced RTs deepen their expertise, expand their influence, and step confidently into advanced professional roles.

2025-2026 AARC Apex Recognition Award

The Department of Respiratory Therapy in the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is proud to announce that our program has been awarded the 2025–2026 APEX Recognition Award by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).

This prestigious national honor recognizes respiratory therapy programs that demonstrate the highest standards in professional development and education. Our program is one of only 41 programs in the United States to receive this distinction for 2025–2026. The APEX Award highlights our commitment to preparing respiratory therapists to deliver exceptional patient care and advance the profession.

This achievement reflects the collective effort of our team to uphold the highest standards in education and to continually advance the field of respiratory care.
