Biography

José D. Rojas, PhD, RRT, RPFT, FAARC is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of Respiratory Care in the School of Health Professions. He is also the Interim Director of Clinical Education of the School of Health Professions. Dr. Rojas received a Bachelor of Applied Studies in Biology from Abilene Christian University and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Physiology from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.

Dr. Rojas has been teaching at UTMB since 2007. He is also involved with the translational ICU on projects related to lung injury. Areas of clinical interest include aerosol therapy and mechanical ventilation. Basic science research interests include acute lung injury, ion/fluid transport across the damaged respiratory epithelium and microvasculature.
